About

Presented in partnership with FAMA , PuraVida Roadshow, is a celebrated Latin music touring program that brings the most exciting contemporary bands from the Americas to Australia and New Zealand.

La Chiva Gantiva explosive mix of highly danceable, percussion-heavy sounds takes cumbia, funk and Afrobeat to giddy new heights. La Chiva Gantiva formed in Brussels, when several expat Colombian musicians started exploring their musical roots to reproduce Colombian rhythms of yesteryear, such as the champeta, the chirimia and the mapalé.

La Chiva Gantiva uses traditional Caribbean and rock  instruments which reflects the diverse influences of the group: Colombian (Toto la Momposina), Latin (Irakere), African (Fela Kuti), Jazz (Lionel Hampton), Funk (James Brown) and Rock (Rage Against the Machine).
