 FUEL – Festival of New Zealand Theatre is an outstanding national arts event that showcases the ingenuity, inspiration and diversity of New Zealand theatre.

The 2004 program included fifty-four performances by twenty-six companies including Mau Dance’s, Paradise- fresh from the prestigious Venice Biennale, Black Grace Dance Company – critically acclaimed at the Holland Dance Festival and The Concert- winner of the British Council OZ Export Award.

The Festival hosted, in association with Playmarket New Zealand, an outstanding group of twenty-four New Zealand playwrights at Waikato University with six of our most respected playwrights and dramaturgs for a one week residential conference.

The FUEL 4 Youth Program offered a full range of theatrical experiences to students in the region with major productions in the Festival are also available as exclusive school matinees.The Festival also included the STIR– a youth-theatre commissioning project for emerging talent in the theatre arts.
