About

Hailed as ‘the dean of Latin jazz’ and ‘one of the world’s great virtuosic pianists’ (New York Times), multi-Grammy® Award winner Chucho Valdés is revered as one of the most influential jazz artists of our time, embracing and transcending the roots of Afro-Cuban music.

Accompanied by his extraordinary Havana Based band, the Afro-Cuban Messengers, Valdés delivered an unforgettable program of the jaw-dropping virtuosity and expansive musicality that have earned him the dual status of both living legend and enduring force of nature. The tour featured music from a career that has spanned more than half a century and from his 2013 album release, Border Free – the eagerly awaited follow-up to Chucho’s Steps, which won the 2011 Grammy® for Best Latin Jazz Album.

Chucho Valdés (piano), Yaroldy Abreu Robles (percussion), Dreiser Durruthy Bombalé (bata drum and vocals) Rodney Yllarza Barreto (drums) Angel Gaston Joya Perellada (bass)
